What are we doing?

This is a water fast for 48 hours. What does this mean? It means that you will not consume anything with calories for 48 hours. Any liquids without calories (e.g unsweetened herbal teas, black coffee, water). Some people are using fast-friendly electrolyte powders or a small amount of sea salt in their water to aid hydration.

For most healthy people a 48 hour fast is completely safe, but please be aware of your own health restrictions and take medical advice if necessary.

You can choose to begin your strike at any time. We are raising as much awareness for the campaign by encouraging people on social media, friends, family and others to donate in support of the hunger strike and to join us in the action if they feel able.

Solidarity and support will always be available throughout the process from others in the group. Please join the WhatsApp group here https://chat.whatsapp.com/JaG9esPDdqc3M8XOWT0IFP. If you want to, let us know which days you’ll be fasting so we can give you words of encouragement and share any tips on how we coped with our own period of fasting!

Translating Falasteen x The Sameer Project

What you need to know about the campaign:

We are raising funds for The Sameer Project.

This is a grassroots campaign on the ground in Gaza, where people are currently undergoing the worst phase of the genocide, being deliberately starved in one of the most extreme cases of settler colonial violence.

Aid is being blocked all along the border and several attempts by multiple groups have been made to get food, water and medical aid through to Palestinians in Gaza have been deliberately blocked in order to continue the genocide.

Translating Falasteen (a Palestinian translator) and The Sameer Project, are led by Palestinians in the diaspora, working to supply aid to displaced families in Gaza. The vital part of these campaigns is that they are not trying to get aid over the border but distribute what little is already there.

The price of necessities like flour have skyrocketed due to the deliberate starvation and groups like The Sameer Project work to distribute the resources available within Gaza to families most in need.

We thank you for being part of this action and encourage you to bring as much attention to your participation as possible, and to be part of our community as we support one another.
